Dr. Bill Bedford
Dr. Bedford came to Crown College to teach in 1976. He taught a variety of history and social science courses, coached cross country, and chaired the Humanities/Social Science Department. Bill and his wife Judy, who served in the financial aid office, invested much of their time at Crown.

Dr. Ken Castor
Dr. Castor came to Crown in 2010 after 20 years as a youth and young adult pastor. He taught youth, family, and leadership courses. He is an active conference speaker and published several articles and books, including Grow Down: How to Build a Jesus-Centered Faith.

Dr. William Conley
Dr. Conley came to Crown in 1961 to head the Missions Department and he was named “Mr. Missions” for his faithful dedication to the school. His classes in anthropology, linguistics, missions principles, church growth, and other areas prepared a generation of overseas workers.

Prof. Johnny Grainger
In 2007, Professor Grainger came to Crown to work in the dramatic productions department. His presence on campus developed the program and made it possible for what it is today. His vision for drama at Crown was not about “creating stars but creating servants.” The arts were to be a way to open doors for further Christian influence.

Prof. Ruth Jones
“In September 1929, she began her years at St. Paul. For two years she was a student teacher, instructing others in English while she studied Bible. When she was graduated, the administration said, "We wish we could keep you, but we can't afford it." Miss Jones replied, "If I could just have my room and board, I'd teach for nothing." They agreed. The first year she did housework on Saturdays for 20 cents an hour to pay for other essentials.”

Prof. Stan Larson

Dr. Stanton Richardson
Dr. Richardson began his ministry at SPBC in the 1940s. During his time, besides teaching Bible and Theology for 38 years, he served as vice president of the college, registrar, dean of men, and even the director of counseling. He was coined the phrase “Mr. Alliance”. In 1977 a women’s residence was named Richardson Hall in honor of the impact Mr. and Mrs. Richardson made on Crown.

Professors Merrill and Maxine Tannehill
Mr. Tannehill started off at SPBC for $40 a month and built the music department into an incredible part of the school. Mr. and Mrs. Tannehill, along with their daughter, Carmen, sang and played instruments in what they called the “Musical Tannehills”. They were a perfect team, as Merrill planned and directed the music, and Maxine arranged most of it.

Prof. Merton Tanner
Professor Tanner graduated St. Paul Bible College in 1927 and became a chaplain in the U.S. Army. He served duty in Hawaii, the Philippines, and Okinawa. He came back and taught many classes, but his most significant role in college life was that of registrar, where his accurate, well-organized work shaped academics from 1954 until his retirement in 1972.

Dr. Marilyn Weldin
Dr. Marilyn Weldin graduated in 1954 from St. Paul Bible College, and in 1963 returned to teach in Christian Education, and head the department for many years. After her year-long sabbatical, she came back and created the teacher education program. Today, it is widely successful and has graduated more students than any other program.
